Nadaaniyan (2025) is a privileged Delhi socialite hires a middle-class student to pose as her boyfriend to maintain her social status. Their pretense becomes complicated when genuine feelings develop between them.
“Nadaaniyan 2025” bursts onto the screen with the same infectious energy as its predecessor, continuing the hilarious escapades of the lovable but utterly clueless trio: Rohan, played once again by the charismatic Varun Dhawan; Priya, brought to life by the effervescent Alia Bhatt; and the ever-scheming Vicky, portrayed with comedic brilliance by Sidharth Malhotra. The story unfolds five years after their initial misadventures, and consequently, we find our protagonists navigating the choppy waters of early adulthood, still managing to stumble into one ridiculous situation after another.
The film opens with Rohan and Priya finally deciding to tie the knot. Therefore, the initial part of the movie revolves around the chaotic preparations for their wedding. However, in typical “Nadaaniyan” fashion, nothing goes smoothly. First, a misplaced ancestral necklace leads to a frantic treasure hunt across the city. Then, Vicky, in his attempt to plan the “perfect” bachelor party for Rohan, inadvertently books a trip to a remote jungle retreat instead of the luxurious beach resort they had envisioned. Subsequently, a series of comical mishaps ensue involving wild animals, mistaken identities, and an overly enthusiastic self-proclaimed survival expert.
Meanwhile, Priya is dealing with her own set of pre-wedding anxieties and a meddling aunt, played hilariously by veteran actress Supriya Pathak Kapur, who believes she knows best about everything. Consequently, Priya finds herself caught between her desire for a simple, intimate wedding and her aunt’s elaborate and often bizarre suggestions, ranging from a performing elephant at the ceremony to a wedding cake shaped like a giant samosa.
Amidst all the wedding chaos, a new element is introduced in the form of a suave and sophisticated businessman, Aryan, portrayed by the charming Aditya Roy Kapur. Aryan enters Priya’s life through a professional collaboration, and initially, Rohan and Vicky are suspicious of his intentions. Furthermore, their suspicions are fueled by a series of misunderstandings and comical misinterpretations of Aryan’s interactions with Priya. Consequently, they embark on a series of elaborate and often disastrous attempts to “uncover” Aryan’s supposed nefarious plot, leading to situations involving disguises, eavesdropping, and a particularly memorable incident at a high-society art exhibition.
As the wedding date draws closer, the misunderstandings escalate, culminating in a major fallout between Rohan and Priya. Moreover, Vicky’s well-intentioned but utterly misguided attempts to reconcile them only make matters worse, leading to a series of hilarious confrontations and awkward encounters. Consequently, the wedding is called off, and the trio finds themselves at their lowest point, questioning their friendship and their future.
However, in true “Nadaaniyan” style, the resolution comes through an unexpected and utterly absurd series of events. First, the missing necklace reappears in the most unlikely of places. Then, the truth about Aryan’s intentions is revealed through a comical misunderstanding involving a misplaced diary and a misinterpreted phone call. Finally, Rohan, Priya, and Vicky realize the value of their bond and the importance of trust and communication.
The climax of the film takes place during a grand, impromptu celebration where all the misunderstandings are cleared, and Rohan and Priya finally get their happy ending. Moreover, Vicky, despite his constant blunders, plays a crucial role in bringing them back together, proving that even the most well-meaning mistakes can sometimes lead to the best outcomes.
“Nadaaniyan 2025,” directed once again by the talented Shashank Khaitan, is a heartwarming and laugh-out-loud comedy that reminds us that even in the face of utter chaos and countless blunders, true friendship and love will always find a way. The film ends with the promise of more “nadaaniyan” to come, leaving the audience eager for the next chapter in the lives of this endearing trio.”
